With the support of SSGN, CETE and Pax Romana, the Catholic Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN), created by Joe Muller, is a network of environmental groups from Catholic high schools, to share ideas, events, campaigns, etc. The intention is to help them meet people who share their passion, learn from each other, and spread what works best. The group is just in its infancy, but they would like to create training and have monthly campaigns aimed at making real change around environmental issues in our communities, our schools, our churches, our economy, and our government.

The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative (FFNPT) is a global effort to foster international cooperation to accelerate a transition to clean energy for everyone, end the expansion of coal, oil and gas, and equitably phase out existing production in keeping with what science shows is needed to address the climate crisis.

On June 13, 2024, Joe Iannone presented a webinar on behalf of Pax Christi Florida regarding the initiative to have the Florida Legislature approve the FFNPT/Senate Joint Resolution 2 (SJR2) in 2025.
Joe reported that there are already volunteers in each of the 7 Florida dioceses, with the aim to establish a “beachhead” in the 471 parishes.

He met with his State Senator, a Democrat, and is in conversation with the Republican Senator from the Keys—the City of Key West recently endorsed the FFNPT.
